Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill)

Eh? We started seeing our young forwards this season when the forwards started to drop with injuries.

As for bringing young halves through. Royce had no options in year 1. Leon was crocked and Eastmond was on another planet.

He did. He could have played Wilkin, like Brown did last year.

You make your dislike of Brown quite clear, with statements like Brown can finish anywhere as he is pals with Rush.

I don't know Brown at all. I've only spoken to him briefly once, in Nandos! I didn't want him as our coach and I set out my reasons why. So far, he hasn't overcome those reasons. Clearly Rush thinks very highly of him because Rush himself has said so, in print, and has spoken of his (Rush's) wish to extend Brown's contract, in print. So where you get this silly notion from that it's my 'anti-Brown' stand that's talking I don't know. That daft imagination of yours by the looks of things.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Saints Awards Night : Wed Sep 17, 2014 6:58 pm
You assume I'm talking about the forwards.

I've rarely read a chairman so anxious to pay tribute to a departing coach than McManus was in the official statement issued by Saints on Monday.

"He's also a great bloke. I'll be quite candid, that's one of the main reasons I appointed him. He's just a very honest, trustworthy guy. He's emotional about the sport, but when it comes to coaching he's very professional and clinical."

Just because you like a coach and are gushing about him in the press does not mean it has nothing to do with results.

I have no idea what you are talking about here? Simmons got the team to a GF and we finished third in the league in 2011. We were a mixed bag at the start of 2012 but we were at the start of 2013 too! I just don't know what your point is.

So a bad coach gets us to a grand final and third in the league and in an injury hit year too?

He didn't get sacked for that, he got sacked for guiding the club on its worst start to a season in 27 years. THAT is what a bad coach does.

Why do you always talk about the GF and not a horrendous run where we looked a complete shambles? Why is one relevant and the other not?

Royce did one or two things well, but on the whole, he was a poor tenant.

And to be realistic, did he guide us to a GF, or did James Graham?
