I honestly think the pie fans think all the rest of us have this blinkered overreaction to all things pie-ish. But we really don't. If Wakefield or Hull KR adopted their tactics week-after-week the refs just wouldn't let them get away with it like they do Wigan. This isn't just anti-Wigan views neither as i thought McClennan's Leeds side were the same (McDermott and Smith's Leeds were not like that).
The way they play makes games boring and annoying. They slow games down so much it's finally even starting to get on Super Pie Clarke's nerves. They make you feel like dozing off!
Two men into a tackle, they hold the man up and the third man waits at the side for the ref to shout held, as he shouts held the third man jumps in to complete an already-called-held tackle and the three tacklers takes the man to the floor. All three of them then either try and turn the man on his back or simply lie on top of the player, while they wait for the ref to shout move (even though he's already called held!). When he calls move one by one they peel off the man on the floor, sometimes with the one(s) remaining with hands on the ball or trying to pull the other arm away from the floor. This can take 12 seconds, all-in, from first contact to the ball being played; it's supposed to take 4.
It's nothing but tedious!
The refs just let them do it though and it gets worse come play-off time because the refs seem to think it acceptable to revert to Aussie State of Origin level of reffing the PTB - they just let anything go.
