yeah good on the leeds fans who went to the game to do this. briscoe got a bit of stick during the game but was clapped off by the west stand and acknowledged this

I wasn't there but it is good to hear that all the Leeds fans applauded Horne onto the pitch.
It was a different scenario but i will not forget the reception Rovers fans gave Graham Murrays wife and daughter shortly after his death. It is expected that home supporters will show their appreciation but when the away fans join in it does make you proud of RL.

Speaking after the game at the KC Stadium, McDermott said, "I thought our supporters were outstanding at the KC Stadium last night. Their reception and appreciation for Richard Horne on his final game before retirement was exemplary and singing for Gareth Ellis, even after he had scored against us, shows what a special club we have. Contrast that with the abuse that Tom Briscoe received throughout the game and I think it shows the class of our supporters.

"Even when the momentum turned against us, they did everything they could to try and lift the side and it was bitterly disappointing that we could not get the win for them. It was interesting at the end that Hull did a lap of honour but were soon off the pitch in contrast to our own lap of thanks a fortnight ago after the heartbreaking loss to Saints. Some of our players didn't leave the field until nearly midnight which shows the special bond between our players and our fans."

It was a few boo's I wouldn't call that abuse. Did it's job as he had a shocker. I didn't boo him, he was the last Leeds player off the pitch and to be fair to him clapped the Hull fans and got plenty of applause off the Hull fans in the west.

Not necessary.

I feel like that was more for the players than anything, with some of the language used and it had a very siege mentality feel. I wouldn't read too much into it. Mcdermott seems to be trying to recreate the atmosphere of 11,12 when everyone had written them off.
