Something struck me when watching last night, with BJB signing it's doubtful that Griffin will get a start on the wing but with his kicking skills we'd be daft not too have him on the pitch.
I'd look at trying him at #13, has the size and can tackle so with his pace he'd be a real asset down the middle.
I think he is in the right position at left centre. Quick and tall and can take the `bombs` which will come next year from Chase & Dobbo.

So we sign a 22 years old prop with only 1 SL match to his credit while we have lads of a similar age, with more, waiting for their chance to make their mark. I must be missing something. Or maybe it's not me?

You're jumping the gun a bit on this. I know you've got a bee in your bonnet about this subject, but there's one thing you've not taken into consideration.
Next seasons squad hasn't been announced yet. You may find some of the Academy lads will step up yet. Or maybe the lads making that step are not in the right positions for the coach?
I'm not making excuses as I want the Academy to produce the bulk of our talent for the future, but you must realise it's not just an automatic jump up, regardless of talent, into the first team. You have to remember that there will be a handful of lads knocking on the door, and depending on their position/game style/skills might not be brought in for various reasons. Say we had a really good lad coming through as a fullback. He'd be unlucky because he'd not dislodge Locke or Evalds. He's not being ignored.
It's a fact of life in the game that young lads will fall out of the dragnet. It doesn't mean a Club is ignoring them. Players have to be the right fit at the right time.
You will not be disappointed with Carl forster,he has been fantastic for us on DR this season, great work rate ,busts the line and a good step on him for a prop

Which of our lads of a similar age who are waiting for a chance to make their mark have just been nominated alongside Ryan Brierley (who as we all know has had a fantastic season) for the Championship Young Player of the Year award? Ridiculous that you can find something to moan about with regards to this signing.
I'm inclined to discount the posts I have read from St Helens fans about Forster, after all he's only played once for them. I must say the comments from the Whitehaven fans though is very positive, they have obviously seen much more of him and it sounds like we have got a fantastic young player. If he can go anything like Chris Hill, Alex Walmsley and Kyle Amor who are three more recent players to come from the Championship into Super League and a make an impact then it will be a fantastic signing.
Plus, it's another young British lad who will slot in alongside Niall Evalds, Greg Johnson, Jason Walton, Josh Griffin, George Griffin, Mason Caton-Brown, Jordan Walne, Adam Walne, Liam Hood and Luke Menzies. I like what Harris is trying to do, very Wigan-esque.

I'm very happy with this, will have cost nothing and not be on a huge contract.
He turns out too be good we've got a bargain for the future, if he doesn't then we've lost very little.
As is said above we can't complain when we are bringing in good young British talent, I'd prefer like others that we brought our own through but I'm happy too stick by the people who know which of the young talent we have is good enough rather than the armchair coaches we have on here.
