RNID launches recuitment drive in RL heartlands! : Tue Sep 02, 2014 12:27 pm
Action on Hearing Loss (the new name for the RNID) has today launched a recruitment drive aimed, it says, specifically in Rugby League heartland areas.A spokesman for Action for Hearing Loss said "It is an opportunity we simply could not pass up! We have known for some time that Rugby League supporters are renowned for their excellent, better than 20/20 eyesight, due to their ability to spot a forward pass or an offside from over 100m away, from behind and after five pints of lager! We were however, totally unaware that coupled with this better than perfect eyesight, these areas also appear to have a significant number of natural-born expert lip-readers! Who would have thought that these northern enclaves would be such potentially rich pickings for volunteers for a charity organisation like ours?"
"We are also led to believe that many of these expert lip-readers are not only IT and Social Media literate, they also have gained excellent on-line campaigning skills on Twitter and Facebook! Just think of the exposure they could also get us if they turned their attention away from witch-hunting and instead turned them onto raising awareness and donations for our Charity! It could making the money raised from pouring a bucket of ice-water over your head look like small change!"
