Lee Gaskell was different class, i've no idea how we've managed to keep him. I'm not even going to comment on Luke Gales performance.

Gale certainly didn't have the best game. Mind you our forwards were very powder puff in the first half.

Looked like Ferguson got crocked again.

Better games from Addy, Pitts and O'Brien.

Hopefully our new half back will inject a bit more cohesion. It was sadly lackin at times today.

Gaskell was class today for you. He will rip it up in the championship next year. Was a weird game to watch (as a Cas fan anyway) I knew it would be tough coming off the Wembley defeat and with you guys getting some form behind you so just relieved to get the 2 points. A good following from your fans aswell.

"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround."

An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.

Jimmy Lowes seems to have made a real difference to you. You matched Cas for long periods and Gales kicking game pinned us back. Couple of strange decisions to rule out Cas tries but if they'de been given the score would have flattered us. It showed how worried we were when we took the 2 points with 6 minutes to go when 12 points up. Good luck for next year, i think you'll go well. Thanks for coming in numbers, what did you all think to "Sweet Caroline" ?

'When it began, di di di deee, we didn't seem to notice' [apologies to Neil Diamond].....shame we never really showed up in that first half but we went well in the second period. Should have started sooner but I can't deny the best team won. Good game overall and I'll sing along to Sweet Caroline any time - win or lose!

Re: Cas game : Mon Sep 01, 2014 8:44 am
The first half we fell into old habits of being too passive. We never got a roll on and although Cas made their share of errors we never made them pay as we came up with mistakes or penalties. For some reason we weren’t switched on. Much better in the second half and we had our chances but left too much to do.

I thought we struggled a bit up front at times. I hope our props next year show a bit more aggression. Manoakafoa is a bit of a pussycat and didn’t run his weight much. When we did spread the ball we looked threatening when Gaskell was put into space but too often the passing was hesitant and slow which meant we didn’t click and Cas could snuff us out easily. A few times there was loads of crossfield running but nobody willing to run the lines to create space. Anyone can defend against that. I thought Arundal looked a bit lethargic. I can see why Hull loaned him out.

On the plus side Gaskell looked very dangerous. I thought Addy did alright at prop when he came on and we did well considering Ferguson was off permanently. The switching off for the Clark tap and try was poor but minutes earlier we could have gone level, if only anyone but Fakir had been there I think we’d have scored and gone level.

Good atmosphere at Cas too. Hope we’re back there soon.

I was just saying last night that I think Cas is the best ground to introduce people to rugby league at. Sorry I couldn't make it yesterday, I'll miss visiting there.

I agree. It's a great ground for being close to the action and the atmosphere is always good. One of the friendliest places in RL.
