Yesterday's programme : Mon Sep 01, 2014 8:36 am
I have just been told that the short article that I wrote called "Try Some Rugby League Fiction" was included in yesterday's programme. It highlighted the fact that much of my material comes from places that I have worked at over the years, which included Thorpe Marsh Power Station for a short while. What I could also have mentioned was the link between my home town of St Helens and Doncaster and particularly the way many St Helens people, including some of my own relatives, came to Doncaster to help set up the Pilkington's Glass Works at Kirk Sandal in the early fifties. Not surprisingly when ever they made short visits back to St Helens , they always had plenty little stories to tell us about what life was like over the Pennines.
