Just saw this on Twitter, is this new news or just re-cycled, the bit that interests me is where SRW says that if BV is re-developed Yorkcourt have agreed to help fund the development.

Not sure that I'd ever read that Yorkcourt had agreed to help with funding, also the newspaper date says 1st Sept.
Yorkcourt were always in the hot seat for the funding of part of the "new stadium" and BV is a far cheaper option for them, plus they could use the land at NM for something else.
I know I've asked before (with no answer) but is anyone able to give any kind of update on the 'community facilities' rather than just the stadium? It would appear that everyone misses out, in varying degrees, if YC wangle out of the s.106.

I seem to recall that there were 4G MUG's and an internal area that could be used for various activities, including dance. Would have been a real asset to lots of community teams who can't train during bad weather, or don't have facilities for general fitness work associated with their sport. I'm sure it would also have created impetus for new groups and activities to be started specifically because of the availability of appropriate spaces at an affordable price.
Sadly we'll never know - the only MUG's being created in relation to Newmarket are Eric Pickles, the people of Wakefield and anyone who lent their support to the scheme based on the provision of community sports facilities.
Change is inevitable ...except from a vending machine!

If Belle Vue is the option chosen, then 15 acres of land at Newmarket will be made available for a community sports facility. Currently we see this being a full sized 4G pitch and a full size grass (possibly Grassmaster reinforced) pitch, both floodlit, changing rooms/club house, car parking and a small back to back spectator stand. This is the minimum we are working on, so it might be more, but lets not count any chickens just yet. The plan would be that this could/would be Trinity's primary week-day field training facility (but possibly not exclusive) and then on evening and weekends it would be available for community use for Football, Rugby League and Union (if anyone is interested).
I have taken on the leadership for this project on the Trust, but of course it will depend on whether we do develop a new stadium facility at Newmarket or redevelop Bell Vue. Both options are very much still under discussion and there is much work going on at the moment on both options.

Newmarket is not dead!
Sounds good, glad to see Newmarket not given up on and meeting ongoing to get the best possible sporting facilities and stadia for Wakefield.

Thanks for that (you too bren - I don't know how to do multiple quotes!). Whilst I never agreed on the site I genuinely do feel for people who've put countless unpaid hours into the scheme and I hope your work does not go un rewarded and the community is compensated accordingly for the loss of green/brown belt land (I don't agree with the proposed site for Cas either for what it's worth - no doubt I'll be excommunicated this side of the common!).
