Great another witch hunt thread on no actual evidence just opinion of people lip reading when you can't even see his lips at the end of what he said. If I could be bothered I would look through most televised game and see something that might or might not have been said.
Hardaker made a mistake erlier in the year which he admitted to, and so the witch hunt begins and because he has done it once is accused of something because of what he did previously with no evidence to confirm it. Which for me some have been on shaky ground re defamation of character etc

It's a disgrace.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Hardaker : Sun Aug 31, 2014 6:59 pm
Maybe Leeds should just issue him with an anti vine device before he takes the field.

Gaffer tape will take on a whole new meaning.

Or maybe people could just watch the games and not go looking for a reason for a witch hunt. I must admit I missed the faux outrage thread on here when Ryan bailey was allegedly the victim of racial abuse in a WCC. What all the players clearly complained to the ref about but nothing said after? Or are we just concentrating on a zac witch hunt?

Bloody hell, the world really is going soft! I'd blame it on the new generation but I'm only 24 myself and we used far worse language than this when we were pre-teens.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what he said. Words are meaningless really. What matters is the intent behind the words. Is Mark gay and was Zak trying to deride him for being so? No. He was annoyed at something that had just happened and vented his frustration. We all do it. Grow up.

And I'm a Saints fan if it matters...

Very well put, A case of the world gone mad. Are people really homophobic in this day and age? We all say things in the heat of the moment that we don't mean but like I've said before I think he is being ostracised for something he hasn't done (again).

Even if he has said what is claimed I've been around rugby fans of all clubs long enough to know that they really don't give a s**t about the words "puff" "queer" "fag" to be offended by them when they hear their mate say them in the pub or another fan in the stand. When you consider the obscene language you hear from fans in the ground at matches I also don't buy the "role model for kids" excuse.

Oh yeah, a lip reading that an 8 year wouldn't have even seen first time until pointed out on a Vine is worst than the constant foul language ALL teams fans shout out for 80 minutes every game. Give me a break.

Kids are more than likely to copy hundreds of fans shouting the referee is a wa**er every home game more so than a 3 second clip of a player that could be saying "puff"

Is this really what Rugby League has come to?

Jeez - whatever happened to the sport we all fell in love with? The sort where;

Real men went toe to toe in battle,
Where a forwards job was to batter the other teams big men and intimidate their little more skillful players,
Where the backs would only mouth off if they were mental (eg Bobbie Goulding), or if they were hiding behind a monster pack,
Where 'working class' folk could go and enjoy the gladiatorial battle between 2 teams and come away satisfied both teams had given their all,
Where nobody gave two hoots about what sledging took place on the field,
Ultimately, where what happened on the pitch, stayed on the pitch, with everyone sharing a pint after the game.

These ridiculous mock outrage, political correctness, 1 up man-ship threads are pathetic and are a sad indictment of the state of not only rugby league, but society as a whole nowadays.

I'd love another breakaway in the sport, keeping the majority of the current rules, but getting back to the real game of rugby league where good hard hits are allowed (inc legal shoulder charges), where if a games boils over in the heat of the moment and a few punches are thrown, the ref deals with it with stern warnings in the 1st instance, where there's absolutely no focus on what's said between players on the pitch, where the players sort any issues out on the field and shake hands at the end and that's the end of it - I bet I know which the majority would rather watch!

Rugby league is fast moving away from the very principles and ethics that the sport has been built on. Imagine what some of the real men from the history of our game would think of this thread...

Yeah they were great days, fortunately RL became a family game and many more women and young children watch it. They watch it on TV too and although I've rated Zac very highly since his Fev days this is not a good example to be setting. Nor is it very good for the sky sound system to be picking up the Leeds fans opinion of the refs sexual preferences.

He is a professionsl sportsman who is paid to represent his club and the sport, which includes commercial sponsors and media partners.

Anyone who used those words in the workplace would be reprimanded. More so if in the public eye.

PS the Leeds club should also be pulled up over the abusive chanting. It sounded awful on TV.
