http://www.therhinos.co.uk/news/23706.php#.VACSLfldW4g I saw the state of the pitch yesterday & it looked like Blackpool beach in parts, much worse than it looked before the renovation. Good to know it will be at it's best for Yorkshire Carnegie to ruin it for us for the start of the 2015 Superleague season.

Unfortunately a pitch can't be re-laid/have work done during the RL off-season so we've just got to deal with a game or so per season of it not looking perfect

My lawn will testify to how little I know about grass, however attempting to grow a new pitch in 19 days seems a little bit ambitious to me.

Give the Groundsman a call. I'm sure it'll be a doddle to grow the pitch in winter instead...

My comment was tongue in cheek.
But the best time to sow grass for a new lawn is September/October. Something that the club is unable to do due to the use of the ground in the winter for rugby union.
It's in perfect condition for the start of the RU season but is at it's worst generally when the superleague season commences in February.
However, the new pitch is a vast improvement on what we had before.
I was not being critical of the groundstaff, whom I've constantly praised, in my original post just stating a fact.

I blame GH. If he wasn't so tight, he'd crank up the undersoil heating throughout the winter. No need to sow in autumn then.
