I was joking yesterday about a 1 year playing contract for Gilmour, however, solely as an assistant coach, I'd be content with that.

I'd be happier to see him in a player coach role than just as a straight up player

Player all day long for me and those who talk about age and being past it, need to remember Jason Demetriou and how he was just class and played on well into his thirties. I think Gilmour is a cracking player and played well coming into a new team having had little 1st team football all season at Cas. Next year if he stays he will be better, I don't see any signs of him being past it.

Think JD was with Wakefield until he was around 33, by the time next season comes Gilmour will be 37. Can he still do a job ? Maybe yes. Is he past his best ? Of course he is.

I would hope he is only here next year in a coaching capacity. Personally I think he shouldve retired when he left Saints.

Leeds just won the challenge cup with two props who's combined age must be 70, and I believe one of them Peacock played the full 80 (may be wrong on that?)
In any event age is only part of the players CV - has he got class and has he got heart - LG certainly ticks those two boxes but personally I see him as emergency cover next season.

If he was an Aussie some people would be falling over themselves for Wake to get him signed up with his CV, irrespective of his age.
Not let anybody down when he played this year, despite coming in cold after his injury.
Think if Gilmour had come to us from Saints or Shudds, nobody would be making a big deal of it, it's that he has come from Cas that has got people moaning.

I would agree.
His age isn't a problem for me, as long as he is better than any other option we have I'm happy to play him.

I don't know his contract details and he clearly isn't a long term plan so if he was expensive and not performing I'd rather sign a younger model. He's not the answer to all our issues but he's good enough.
It's all relative.

At the moment though, he is a Cas player isn't he. Only here on loan.
