Re: widnes next : Mon Aug 18, 2014 9:18 am
Scrappy win ...yes it's two points but at this stage of the season it should be starting to be about performances and turning it up a notch.

Broughton did seem to bottle a couple of chances when all it seemed he had to do was run fast and dive for the line....he seemed to slow down when the defender came to him.
Agree about our forwards especially Mullers and Foos who both seem to be trying their damn hardest to impress and claim a place in the team...both are doing that for me at the moment.
Jerry is a monster at times, does any other winger run as hard as him EVERY time he gets the ball?? it's like having a prop running on the wing !!.

Thought the Ref did ok apart from a couple in the 2nd half he missed, our crowd annoy me at times as as soon as they hear the whistle they start barracking the Ref when most of the time the penalties against us are justified, even when he gave one AGAINST Widnes some of them didn't even notice and were moaning at him till they realised. Ref's are like players, they learn from experience and game time and this guy will do that...i thought the way he was willing to ask his touchjudges for advice and change decisions he'd got wrong was excellent reffing by him.

Anyway, in summary...we need to start upping it and playing to a higher intensity if we wanna be competitive in the end of season cup !!

think people are not giving broughtons opposite winger enough credit, flynn is no slouch either and did very well.

mcgillvary is like a prop! and our best one at that... kaufusi is showing why we brough him here now and crabtree solid as always, great pass to patrick drawing defenders in for patrick to go through

our defence seems to have improved abit, but that wasnt hard.

I think this has gotten missed due to our overall disappointing performance. I think we've seen our defence improving in each of our last 4 games which, while unquestionably there is room for improvement, is exactly what we what to be seeing ahead of the end of season and Play Offs.

Absolutely agree about the defence, teams are having to actually work to score against us whereas before they didn't...we gifted them tries and invited them to score at will !!.

Re: widnes next : Mon Aug 18, 2014 5:42 pm
do think anderson needs to decide between bailey or lawrence on the bench and not both, we are much better in defence with one of them starting in place of patrick at loose, patrick better off the bench impact player he is

mind you bailey seems to be helping lunt at hooker now, we have so many options but its about time anderson found out his best starting 13/17..coming to the business end of the season now

can throw faiumu into the mix of this too :D

I'd start Bailey at 13
Lawrence on the bench
Patrick on the bench
Ta'ai and Ferres starting in the back row

Mulally & CK on the bench too

I'd always start with Brunno just to make sure that the middle is tight and we don't give the opposition a start.

100% agree. He can do 80 minutes, he never seems to have a bad game, especially with his tackling in defence, and we always look more solid when he's on the pitch. I also like replacements who can make an impact off the bench and for all his attributes this isn't one of them. Always a starter for me.

Yep I agree with both of you.
Solid defence against the fresh players to keep the opposition out of the game. Patrick on as super sub -against tired bodies and minds.
