I wouldn't underestimate the strength of feeling for a community stadium in Wakefield not just Trin fans it's all about civic pride for the City. If the development goes ahead without the stadium then the community trust have got to be compensated in some way, and if sir Rodney Walker and the community trust are working as hard as people are saying then I still believe a stadium fit for purpose will be built in Wakefield. One thing I heard today was that York Court were now declared bankrupt but suppose who ever buys the land the 106 should still apply however weak it is.
Sadly i really think you may be over-estimating the level of pride people have in the city these days, take a look at how few of them are actually bothered enough to turn up and watch its only pro sports team. Many couldn't care less and certainly not enough to be bothered whether a stadium gets built near Methley.

That's true there is always a massive amount of people that don't get involved in anything. You only have to look at the numbers that bother to vote in the local elections. However having said that although we have an average gate of around 4000 that's only the people who turn up on a particular day. You could quite easily double that figure if you counted the number that watch at least one game throughout the season.
Then going back to the 4000 that do turn up. If everyone of them voted for any other party but labour at the local elections it would go a long way towards kicking Box out of power

That is the problem here, the section 106 is so weak and so full of holes that the trust don't have to be compensated in any way shape or form! And that will go for whoever is the developer. Yorkcourt disposed of the company that signed the 106 agreement quite a while ago, all part of the master plan I should imagine.
Have we thought about an epetition? A strongly worded, yet accurate, statement detailing how a bent 106 is effectively robbing a community of facilities, especially as the development could never have existed without the hearts, minds and active support of the community eventually wronged by the developers could do wonders for convincing wider support.
If the local council are as culpable then move on to higher powers.
100,000 online signatures may seem a tall order but in the days of social media I personally think it could be far easier than our 12,000 letters of support. For example: Start with the 1000 people on the 'Northstanders' Facebook page, if each of those 1000 people shared the link the increases in exposure can be astronomical.
I'd like to think the RL community would help fight our corner on this too, galvanize the wider RL community & suddenly 100,000 people doesn't seem such a taller order.
