Re: O/T Another Round - More tales of Real Ale : Thu Jun 19, 2014 3:13 pm
Sheffield yesterday ...

Tap ...Tapped Brew Co Ale 3.5%
Hop ... Ossett Big Red 4.0%
Red Deer ... Moorhouses Pride of Pendle 4.1%
Museum ... Mauldons Suffolk Pride 4.8%
Bankers Draft ... JW Lees Game On 4.2%
Dove & Rainbow ... Blue Bee Lustin for Stout 4.8%

Predictable choices in the Hop and the Red Deer but all the others were new to me.

The Red Lion had the very nice Imperial Darkness (Imperial Brewery) available yesterday. Recommended if you like hints of Chocolate and Coffee!

Tried a new one last night in the shape of Devils Backbone Brewing Co (USA) Independence Ale 4.7. Not really my thing but if you don't try you don't know.

Wrexham Saturday evening ...

Purple Moose Brewery Dark Side of the Moose 4.6% & Cairngorm Wildcat 5.1% in the Elihu Vale (Wetherspoons)
Ruddles in the North & South Wales Bank (Lloyds) ... beyond that they only had 2 ales, both golden - incredibly disappointing!
Joules Slumbering Monk 4.5% in the Royal Oak

Had forgotten just how nice the Slumbering Monk is ... a few pints reminded me

XXXB is a particular favourite of mine so nice to see that that The Gatehouse had it on. Sadly I'm suffering from a a reaction to grain based brews and bread so I have had to cut right back on such like. Severe osteo-arthritis in my right knee and supping sets it off like its not true. I have been 'recommended' to switch to Cider if I want to keep on drinking. I have to say that the switch has been beneficial and I am not getting the same reaction as I had with ale  Good to hear that Weatherspoons start their Cider Festival on the 11th July for a few weeks so will nipping into the Gatehouse and the Angel.

PS Will I still be allowed on this thread

Sorry to hear you're off the beer.

Perhaps you could start a Real Cider thread?
