I'm not surprised by this, he has experience and is IMO a Championship level player anyway. Another one who needs to work on his defence more but he should be a useful addition.

Separately, I'd love to know why Bates and Brook are never included in the list of players to have re-signed in each press release.

Probably focusing on the full squad members and Bates and Brook are part of the additional 6 younguns.

Arundel heading back to Hull for 2015. Jay Pitts potentially signing up at Odsal permanently.

Guess it's Arundel's choice whether he's happier playing for a lower wage or sitting in stands and getting more money. Might come back to bite him at end of his hull contract though when he's looking for a new deal on back off a couple of years of hardly playing.
Pitts is definitely the one I'm more bothered about keeping. Has fitted in well and always puts 100% effort in.

Good player to have in our newly re-built squad. Will bring valuable experience to some of the younger lads when teams are trying to rough us up next year. Hope it is true about Gale "possibly" changing his mind. The number 7 is the biggest role in the team and it is currently unfilled - officially.

I'm not bothered about Arundel frankly. He was decent on Sunday, but he was anonymous earlier in the season when it actually mattered. In fact he was dropped for a number of games if I remember correctly.

Far better to spend his big salary on getting in two players who can bolster our squad.

As for Pitts, I'd take him in a heartbeat. Solid and workmanlike player who hasn't let anyone down all the time he's been here.

I found it strange to read a news article that speaks so matter-of-fact about player's wages like that. Arundel one of Hull's highest paid players? Really??

With our squad rebuild as its going I'd take both players, but if I had to choose one I would take Pitts every day. He's an excellent player, definate superleague level quality and clearly has the right attitude and work ethic and always seems to put in a good shift. Just the sort of forward we need, and Im really surprised Hull can't find room for him with the way they've underperformed this year.

If Arundel is one of Hulls highest paid players then we can't afford that level of wage in the championship for someone who still is very hit and miss.

Im ok with Chevs resigning, hardly a world beater but is a good squad player and brings good experience to a potentially quite young pack.

I also agree with others that the scrum half is now the vital signing, I dont think Jimmy will be going with just Gaskell and Brook, so I'd assume we have a new signing or a resigning (?) lined up already. I'm sure I heard somewhere that Ben Jefferies isnt going to Leigh anymore as an aside.

Maybe we are looking at the Wire centre knowing that Arundel is going. Our time in the championship is the ideal time to bring on a few (not many though) youngsters who will then be fine for SL. I can't decide on Purtell. Would we be better going with a younger player who could give us maybe the next 8 years. Purtell won't get any better and I wouldn't call him world class. Either way I will be OK with how Jimmy goes with him. Would still like to keep Williams, Blythe and George though.

We might keep Pitts as they have just signed an expensive Ausie second rower / loose forward.

Funny you should mention Ben Jeffries Duckman. Yesterday I was thinking that if we did go with Brook we could have done with Jeffries as his back-up for one season.

Where is Purtell?! He's not played for weeks. Hopefully his absence is nothing related to his heart attack.
