18,000 sold, 25,000 expected! Proof if it were needed that there is an appetite for NRL in the Capital. No promotion other than a text competition and some radio. Great crowd of 30,000. warriors need to take more games out of Auckland, isn't this one of only a couple home games they have ever played in another NZ city?

What's irritating is that the Wellington Council paid a reported AU$500,000 to have the AFL come to town on the promise of 10,000 victorians following them over....less than half that number actually did and of the 22k that went to the game, the vast majority were freebies handed out at schools the week before the game (4 for each kid) and to council employees.

The Warriors, Like the 2 Union teams and the soccerballers will have had to pay Wellington Council to use their stadium......it's a loving disgrace that a council employee with an agenda to become Mayor is allowed tax businesses with a one off levy to buy an AFL game, but the local sports teams are being bled dry by the same guy.
