Obviously behind Tuson in the pecking order though as Wane has never actually used him in that position.

Indeed so! I trust Waney's judgment on Tuson, and he's been ever-present this season, when available. The coaching staff have much more detailed stats on the players, and will clearly be using those stats, at least in part, to justify who gets picked.

I think that's a fair comparison although Hansen seemed to have more potential back then that Tuson does now.

Comparing Tuson with the current back row forwards is perhaps a bit misleading though because I think he's much more of a loose forward than a second row. I can't say I've been too impressed with his run selection or ability to go through gaps out wide when compared to Farrell, Hughes or Lloyd but he seems better running down the middle where he's more likely to make a break.

I prefer Hughes to Tuson out wide because I see Hughes as a wide running back row, he runs better lines and is more dangerous with ball in hand.

Tuson seems to do better at loose forward and I'm pretty sure that's his preferred position. Comparing the players statistically is probably inaccurate too because most of the time Tuson's short time on the field is spent at loose forward or prop rather than second row.

I think Tuson is a decent player and my biggest criticism of him is that he doesn't make the most of the skills he has during games and tends to be a bit of a head down, run straight sort of player but he doesn't have the build for that.

In the future I think Hughes and Connor Farrell will become better players than Tuson while Lloyd is looking very promising too. When I doubt Tuson's long term future it's mainly because I see some of the younger players becoming better.

If I was given a choice between Tuson leaving or Hughes leaving; firstly I'd wonder why I was expected to make this decision instead of someone at the club, and secondly I'd go for Tuson leaving purely because Hughes has more potential.

In his first spell yesterday, Tuson was arguably our best player.

But why does the decision need making at all? At this stage they are both useful squad players and are worth keeping. I agree Hughes is a better prospect and I think he will turn out to be an excellent second rower. He tackles well, runs great lines and has deceptive pace, if he works on his offload we could have a Hock mk2!

It doesn't at all, which is brilliant! Although if some of the younger players improve quite quickly then the decision might have to be made sooner than we'd like but at least if that happens it means we're producing some bloody good players so it ain't so bad.

The only problem Hughes has is that he's left sided just like Hock but hopefully he can become more accustomed to playing on both sides of the field.

Tuson tackles well above his size.
His tackles are physical and powerful, that's what Wane wants and that's what Tuson provides. Our tackling yesterday was massively better than v Bradford and that is due to the return of Tuson as much as Hansen. Flower is also a rough and tough tackler.
Wane wants a rough house pack, not dirty but within the rules so no pens are conceded.
Our opponents often talk about the physicality of the Wigan pack. Tuson is an important part of that.
His re-signing is a must as far as I'm concerned.

Spot on, over these last few seasons we've really developed a pack that dominates and kocks oppositions back but we also have the nastiness as well if it does erupt into some biff. With the frightening Pace of our back line playing off the back of this its no wonder we have scored so many points. I genuinely think teams fear Wigan at the minute because they know its gonna hurt and they know we have the execution to score bagfuls of points. Only Wire come close to us at the minute.
