CENTURIONS RESERVES SMASH THROUGH THE 1,000 POINTS BARRIERLeigh Centurions Reserves went through the one thousand points barrier in only their 18th league game of the season after defeating Oldham 74-0 at Leigh East last night. Paul Anderson’s side, who are next in action at Halifax next Thursday, have played some outstanding football this year and they continued in their free-flowing style to delight the home crowd as they chalked up their 17th league victory.
After leading 30-0 at half-time the Reserves took their try-tally to 14 for the match with fullback Corey Lee scoring two tries and all the three-quarter line getting in on the scoring action. Wingers Cameron Robinson and Josh Swift scored five tries between them with centres Jonny Pownall and Eze Harper also crossing. Matty Wilkinson emulated Swift and scored a hat-trick off the bench.
Jack Holmes and Luke Warburton also scored tries with Josh Ward kicking seven goals and Matty Pendlebury two goals.
In all games this season Harper leads the try-scoring with 14 tries, followed by Ward (13), Chris Hankinson and Pownall (12 each) and Sam Baggaley, Anthony Bate, Lewis Foster and Sam Peet (11 each).
Ward has kicked 146 points and has scored 344 points this season so far. He also leads the appearances chart with 22 followed by Peet and Luke Warburton who have both made 21 appearances.

The Reserves have beaten Paul Rowley’s first team in reaching the 1,000 points mark. In all games this season the Centurions have scored 968 points so far, including 828 in 21 games in the Kingstone Press Championship.
