More the effects of an underfunded and overly target driven NHS. Bloody Labour & Tories.
We were storing records at a total cost to the NHS of 7p per item. After I left they were put out to private storage companies at an average cost of 45p per item. Doesn't sound a lot but bear in mind we were storing over 3m individual items. Taking into account they destroyed (and now don't keep) records before the end of their retention period against NHS directives, I make it as a waste of approx £750,000 per year for a lesser service.
Totally OT I know, it just annoys me.
