That's a common perception at the moment either way.

I'm not really sure what the club can do, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Both ST numbers and average attendances have fallen over the last couple of seasons, if they put cheap offers on single matches then ST holders get aggreived, if they don't then people will more than likely pick and choose the more attractive fixtures whilst not bothering with others.

This season I chose not to get a ST as I knew me and my girlfriend would struggle to get to some games due to work. I think I'll end up missing 3 home games this season, so a ST wasn't worth it. I've had a £2 discount off every game with the A&L membership, but other than that I've had no discounts for any game.

I'm hoping the club are going through the motions slightly with regards to marketing and advertising, and will improve this when the new league structure kicks off. They definitely need to do something though, and thankfully I'm not the one who's paid to think of what, because I've no idea what they can do. Fan apathy is the main issue IMO, and that's for the individual fans to sort, not the club.

I agree dammed if they do or if they don't but they've been increasing season ticket prices consistently for years. My old ticket went from about 145 to 220 ish in about 7 years in East stand off my memory. They might have halted the cheap tickets this year but damage has been done with some.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

Re: BIG announcement tomorrow : Thu Jul 31, 2014 2:32 pm
So they've succeeded in p***ssing off a load of season ticket holders by discouting a lot of games and the one game they should be discounting they aren't

Nice work Wigan.

Yeh that's true. Perhaps they need to be aiming the big incentives at ST holders, make the ST package more attractive and try and push those numbers up. I can see there being a further price increase next year, however, as we are guaranteed at least one additional home fixture.

The thing is that its not the money driving people away its the meaningless and non competitive games imo.

Watching us roll teams over or get past them with weakened teams is dire. I want to see top teams smashing each other week in week out with maybe the odd exception not the other way around.

Indeed. You'll get the odd ST holder that may be miffed by non ST holders getting a cheap ticket here and there but you can't please everyone and it isn't the reason for a drop in crowds. It's got everything to do with the structure of the competition and how teams have been able to manipulate the system to rest and rotate players ready to peak come the play offs IMO added to a number of uncompetitive games (that you will always get IMO but they're now also pretty meaningless).

I've been a home and away man without fail every year since the late 90's until this year. My outlook on watching us changed last year and I can probably nail it down to a day. It was Huddersfield away in the play offs when we finally confirmed my suspicions that we'd been treading water for three months waiting for that night. I changed my mindset that night and became of the opinion that if the players can pick and choose their matches (and rightfully so under this system) then so can I. Don't get me wrong I still go to far more then not and certainly all the big ones but in the past I'd structure my holidays around games, miss nights out with friends, miss relatives parties or in one case leave my cousins wedding part way through the meal to attend a Saints game in my suit!

I'd like to think next year will turn me back! And I can bunk off some more weddings.

Unfortunately that says more about some of our support than anything else. Their grip on reality on these issues is tenuous at best.

Surely it can only be a player from Catalans. Probably the best RL side I have ever witnessed in this season's comp.
