The club has gone backwards in terms of marketing, fan engagement, building events and generally making fans feel like they are part of the club. Which is a real shame because they'd done so much in recent years to build those things up. They should be pushing for a 20k average, not putting the cue on the rack and expecting fans to turn up. What are they doing to encourage the next generation, the under 18s?
I can't be the only one who is concerned by our attendances this year. When you see the apparent lack of effort the club from the club (relative to recent years) you've got to ask yourself, are they even bothered?
I'm concerned about our attendances and the lack of interest from my age group, 17 & 18 year olds, who are generally looking just to have a good time. Me and about ten of my mates use to go home and away watching Wigan until they got bored of the match day experience and lack of atmosphere from home and away fans at games. They turned to football, not really supporting Latics just looking to have a good time and have a few beers with their pals. There is just no interest from my age group at all at the minute. The focus seems to be a lot of Latics in my specific age group which is sad to see from a rugby perspective. I don't see how Wigan can encourage my age group to start attending games again that's the problem.
To be fair to Wigan RLFC they have made a bit of a howler on this one but in general it is uncertainty of when some games are going to be played that is driving people to become armchair fans IMO .
Thursday or Monday (in the past) night games make it impossible for a lot of fans to attend and once you get out of the habit etc . etc (not blaming Sky they pay the wages)
'Not going to renew my season ticket' 'never going to travel' from distance to watch Wigan again' 'who do the club think they are treating us like this'
Step back and take a look at yourselves. Calm down and look at the positives for once. This is the first salvo in trying to make the back end of the season a memorable one, get behind the club and support what they are trying to do.
On the 8th day, God created Rugby League On the 9th day, Satan created Salford. A battle ensued through to to late on the 12th day. A few hours later, a truce, and on the final stroke of midnight, Code 13 was created... Heaven and Hell combined forces and delivered Salford Red Devils...a legacy is born!!!!!
As a Salford fan, I know all about "Hype that ends up being a damp squib", take the big announcement a few weeks back that ended up being Weller Huaraki ffs . SL as a whole is suffering with attendances dropping across the board... . Look on the brightside, your team is still well supported, what we would give to have a fair % more
The over reaction is ridiculous. Disappointing that the 'big announcement' wasn't a signing but that was obvious after the 2nd tweet. The back room staff must wonder what the hell they are dealing with sometimes with some of our fans.

They are dealing with customers and people who pay their wages.

Spot on, and that's the only reason I gave up on a Season Ticket (many) years back. Since then, like EW said, I just got out of the habit of going due to arriving home from work too late for evening games, (bloody Thelwall ) in order to then get into town by public transport. (RL game = a scoop or two before the game, and several more after it )
