Looking forward to some of the away trips next year, Sheffield,Leigh, Batley, Barrow, Dewsbury, Workington, Whitehaven, Doncaster Featherstone etc are all friendly knowledgable places to watch rugby with a warm welcome usually given as I recall. It will be nice to visit them and hopefully take a hefty away following which will help those clubs financially. Let's take the ball and run with it.
Take a tip and if you drive to Barrow give the Hard Knott Pass shortcut a miss. Last time I was there, in a mate's Lada running on 3 cylinders, there were fookin goats turning back.

I would sack your map reader if he told you going over the Hard Knott was a shortcut to Barrow. Though it would be understandable if they were looking for the Hard Knott Brewery

Me too lad! Went to LSV for the World Cup - its very good!
Whitehaven, Barrow and Workington = three weekends in the Lake District straight away - can't wait
You would think. As a Fax fan we are still waiting.
To be fair to Charlie we havnt always seen eye to eye but its clear he does know his rugby even if he can talk a bit of sheet at times.
Thank you GFB , very nice of you to say so , I admit I can talk Rubbish a fair bit , but most is tongue in cheek and I like to think I do know a bit about Rugby , one thing im not is Biased and always say it how I see it .
Back in the day, when I made many, many vists to Owlerton watching speedway, I always went through Hudds and via Pensitone, so it's quite northerly in relation to the centre, not far from Hillsborough, [just after, when coming in from the north?] IIRC. There is / was little terracing and the view is likely to be less good than Don Valley, I'd guess. Owlerton was brilliant for watching speedway, not sure sure for rugby though, as I say, I haven't been there for yonks - guess I'll find out!!
I tuned into the Sky Sports coverage of speedway last night and would you Adam and Eve it, it was Sheffield Tigers at the Owlerton Stadium. It looked very much as it did all those years ago, dog track on the outside, inside that the speedway track and the centre green [the rugby pitch] in the middle.
If there are as few speccies for the rugby as there were at the speedway [take note those who hanker after its return to Odsal] the viewing though very distant might not be terribly bad. I suspect though, that even on a poor day, we'll take more fans to a game there, even in div2, that there were altogether at the racing last night.

Yep I caught it as well. Seemed to be more people in the pits than spectators in the ground. Brought back memories of going there in the 80`s for a match, not the best ground I`ve been to.
