So THIS franchising system was flawed? Correct? I also have little faith in the RFL... but what can we do as fans? except perhaps moan on forums!

No. If you look at the rules that were meant to be applied, the system should have worked. The RFL ignored their own rules on any number of occasions and made basic mistakes on others.

The system didn't fail because it was never actually applied. Instead we had some half-arsed implementation made up on the spur of the moment at Red Hall.

The system would only ever work if the people running he game were completely impartial and had the ability and resources to see things through. That would never happen, probably in any sport! For that reason alone, it would never work.

No one was willing to make the big calls and they would always be negativity regardless of whether it was a good call or not. For that reason, there needs to be a system that runs itself. No one to blame. No "flavour of the month" insinuations. That's how you get credibility with the supporters of this country.

There are a few things that I'd like to see change in the new system, but I think it's certainly a better step than the current mess.

If the system had been in place last season we'd have been 9pts adrift of 4th place after 23 rounds. With only 3 home games in the "Super 8" we'd have had little or no chance of making the top4 with our season effectively over.
So much for Nigel Wood's claim that every minute of every match matters

There will still be meaningless games. If teams have little or no chance of making the top eight they will rest players in preparation for the 'Qualifiers'.

Imagine if we are 11th and taking on Wakefield in 12th in round 23. That'll draw the fans in, won't it.

I agree but when teams play in the "Qualifiers "they will be playing 7 games which will be meaningful in their attempts to get into Super league for the following season whereas the teams who finish 7th or 8th will have 7 games with nothing to play for but pride.

You can't compare points from a 14 team league to a 12 team league. Some clubs will have played easier clubs, some harder, so the points difference could appear larger.

I think the teams battling around 7-10th will be more released not to be in the relegation 8 rather than pleased to be competing for the GF. If you finish 8th after 23 rounds, you don't exactly deserve a good shot at the championship and not should you expect it.

Yes, because currently 11th vs 12th at the end of the season is a huge draw in SL. No fear of relegation. Little chance of making the play-offs if any. It's hardly an argument against if it applies to pretty much every system.

In fact, 11th vs 12th could be significant in a club reaching 10th place, which would give them an extra home game in the play offs. That could be significant.

How will the home and away fixtures be decided in the end of season competition between the bottom Super League clubs and the top Championship teams?

How can you have a fair system?

All the teams will start on 0 points with 9th and 10th SL clubs gaining the advantage of the extra home fixture, and 1st and 2nd in the championship gaining the advantage of the extra home fixture.
