A shoulder injury has ruled Bowen out of the visit of Hull FC, with Tierney set to deputise in his first Wigan appearance of the year.

He was yesterday named Championship Player of the Week for a starring display on dual-registration at Workington.

WIGAN could also be without Eddy Pettybourne and Joe Burgess for the next few weeks.

Scans confirmed prop Pettybourne suffered a broken jaw in the 36-16 victory in Catalan.

And coach Shaun Wane should find out tomorrow how long winger Burgess may be sidelined for, after he has had a pre-op procedure on a knee cartilage problem suffered last weekend.

“They’ll go in and have a look, but it could be several weeks – maybe longer,” said Wane “With Eddy, it will be four to six weeks, which is disappointing.”

I read on the other board Charnley is having some issues from that Duport tackle as well (can't hear properly and the side of his face has lost some feeling by all accounts) so we'll have to try and find some wingers from somewhere. I presume Manfredi will take one spot but the other is anybodys guess! Maybe Goulding if hes fit or possibly a debut out there for Oliver Gildart. Both are natural centres though.

Most idiotic post ever goes to Grimmy..... The way to restart should be an arm wrestle between a designated player from each side.

That would be my guess, he did alright against Wakefield on the wing.

Anyone know what's going on with Goulding? He's not played in the last few weeks and I've not heard any mention of an injury in any interviews. Goulding back to right centre with Sarginson on the wing is another option if he's available.

Aye, forgot him.

It'll be an inexperienced backline on Friday. I'd rather have inexperience in the backs then the pack though so the team should be strong enough.

Shaun said "Ian Thornley, Micky mac and blake green are all due back in 3-5weeks" so not a season ending injury then. If all come back fit and no more get injured (seriously) we could be going in to the plays offs very strong and fresh.

The ideal scenario would be to have a full squad for the last couple of regular fixtures to get everybody match fit. At the minute that looks realistic but we obviously need a good deal of luck between now and then.

August is going to be an important month for us, we only have 2 games against HKR (A) and Widnes (A) which are 15 days apart, so will be a good opportunity for players to rest any knocks. If we can get the likes of Green, McIlorum, Thornley and Tomkins playing in at least one of those then they should have some match fitness ready for the big last two home games against Leeds and Warrington. That would really put us in a good position for the playoffs.

The main problem is everytime we start getting 2 or 3 bodies back another 2 or 3 pick up injuries!!
