Didn't go to France watched it on TV heard Andy on radio Leeds Sunday couldn't believe it when he said commenting on the Catalan game we weren't far off if that's the feeling within the club we've got problems we were never in the game and the French while flamboyant made lots of mistakes and weren't good

in the opening exchanges we went ok but our perennial problem of not being able to control games, force repeat sets etc came back to bite us.

Once we fell behind though, we were miles off the pace against a pretty average side.

However I would like to know in what context he was saying "we weren't far off" to comment further

One loss from six games including a win against Wigan and a draw against Leeds, putting us safely out of the relegation zone; yet a passing comment from a player on the radio signifies that we've 'got problems.'

This was just part of the interview. To put it into context he said how difficult it was to go there and play in those conditions and while they didn't feel they were far off when they started to get behind they couldn't recover. He added that Catalans are a much better side at home and they hoped for a better performance.
Not verbatim but not far off.

We went with plenty of size but started them all on the bench. Had we have matched Catalans from the word go I don't think we would have been that far off. The plan looked to have been putting our big guys on when their big guys were off. Unfortunately we were 22 down by then.

Raleigh played well and should retain his spot this week.

I'd agree with this although think Ali is still off match fit to start.

With hindsight Tautai starting at 13, Ryan to centre to give greater size and strength up front and out wide.

Walshaw, Anderson, Scruton and Ali on the bench may have been a better option though still think we'd have got pumped.

The problem we had was that we went with too many older players and in those conditions they were quickly found out. I may have missed something but I thought Raleigh was not in the initial squad.
I think for the first time Webster made some mistakes
1 - not having a fresh replacement hooker on the bench
2 - he left Gilmour on for far too long
3 - as stated above just too many players over 30 for the conditions

Whilst I don't think these changes would have affected the result, I can only agree with the above.
