Feb 1996 v Leigh Away CC - first time I witnessed what was coming. Playing to a plan - not seen in decades, attacking, attractive, expansive rugby. Robbie Paul finding his form.
March 1996 v Leeds CC semi - NOBODY KNEW (apart from Bulls faithful) what was to be unleashed that day. I still have the BBC pre-match "expert" opinions that 100% tipped Leeds for a win. Absolutely best moment in 30 years, couldn't stop crying at full time and its bring a lump to my throat as type now.
May 1996 v Saints CC Final - never gave a stuff about the result - fantastic day and burst with pride. Still can see RP scoring that second half try and Jon Scales powering down the wing.
July 1996 v Saints at Odsal - packed stadium - hairs on back of my neck stood up as the team came onto the pitch, shaking with emotion as Bulls totally disected Saints to win 50 - 22.
I cannot argue that some of your memories are up there for me too.
But for me - 1996 was the most exciting year of my 50 years following the game.
Watching the transformation overseen by Chris Caisley, Brian Smith and Peter Deakin was tantamout to a miracle given the previous decades of mediocrity and the fickle folk of Bradford who at best are difficult to attract.
There are moments from that year burned into my brains and still make me emotional now.
I doubt I will live long enough to experience anything like that again.
