Totally agree about the music thing - why bother when you just get drowned out? Even for other teams grounds with larger support I think it poor and an atmosphere killer - but for us with fewer fans we have no chance. Best atmosphere created by fans is probably Leeds (choke ) - they don't play try music!!! - they do play "Marching on Together" prior to the game starting to get everyone singing the same thing. seems to me that it works for them.So stop the try music - get the "singers" to start the chant after we score - stick to the same chant so everyone knows what to expect and more will hopefully be inclined to join in.
I cannot believe that anyone (fan or not) attends a RL game because of the music played after a try is scored - but honestly believe that they will attend for the atmosphere that a good chant creates. After all that is what got me hooked on the Giants back in the old Fartown days - and until then I had only a very vague passing interest in RL.
It must be worth a go - what have we got to lose???
Perhaps need to get this idea in front of the club from those of you with some influence.
Also can I suggest something for away games. That is get a few friendly Giants fans to politely "marshall" our fans on arrival to the stands and encourage all to sit together in one area - no gaps - as I think that lots of people would join in chants/cheers etc... when surrounded by like minded Giants fans at close quarters. Left to our own devices we do have a tendency to spread out and leave massive gaps between small groups rather than sit together. This gets exaggerated the bigger the stadium - with the MW being the ultimate opportunity to scatter to the four corners - literally. Even when our away support is low - better to have a small group all in one place! Other subject on forum mentions a designated flag area - so at away games flags/banners would be a good way to highlight the designated area for Giants to congregate. Take the game at Hull FC as an example - we had the whole stand to ourselves so this could easily be accommodated without causing any upset to other supporters or concerns to stewards. Just a thought!
