I think this is something we are aspiring to and starting to do as Saints, Wigan and Leeds have great youth academys and we are finally coming up to speed in this area but for now we do not have good enough youth to replace the quality players that are leaving so we will inevitably have to buy in these key areas.

Now if Wigan never bought anyone in recent years in these key positions you would have a leg to stand on but you clearly dont.

Wigan has a population 100k bigger than Warrington with 3 possibly 4 times as many youth sides. Yes lets try to compete with that, you play to your strengths, yours is your vast amount of youth players, ours is our vast of amount of pounds in the bank.

You realise you can scout from outside the Warrington area right? The physical number of clubs in the area is irrelevant (which isn't actually that low, certainly no less than in the st.helens area - yes Wigan have a tonne and playing in the youth leagues you feel like you're going there every other week but that's another complaint.)

Salford have picked up players from the Wigan, St.helens and Warrington areas this year. Saints have picked up a few from Cumbria and Leigh, Wigan sign players from Gloucester! Youth teams don't need to be local boy done good any more - it helps getting them in with the scholarship system (which btw is awful) but certainly not required

It's been fun.

No but if two clubs are competing for a signature and one of those teams is your boyhood club, the other has to offer something special or substantial to turn your head

I think you'll find that it isn't. To come close to that figure you'll have to include Leigh and other district towns like Skelmersdale.

It's a good job Wigan brought Feilden through their youth system a few years back so he could inspire them to not being relegated.................. Oh, hang on

What's your point? The majority of our squad are from the youth system. Look at the starting team against St Helens, half of them are academy products.

Wigan have one of, if not the best utilised youth systems in Rugby League and balance the squad well.

I don't even know what I gave you that response because you already know it.

Bearing in mind that every team will fill their three quota spots that leaves fourteen places in the line-up available. We had seven players from our academy system playing against cas which if my maths is correct is also half the team. It seems any other club is allowed to buy players and escape criticism except warrington. Personally, i want to see top class players playing for my club and i don't care what postcode they were born in or whether they came to us from another club.
