76 years ago , far too long without going again. they were a lot tougher in those days, there's no protective cushion on the posts

I think they were a hardier generation. A smacked head against the posts would have resulted in an opposition player helping you up, a rub of the effected area and a woodbine at halftime.

For all you youngsters we went to Wembley in 1969 but sadly lost. Ask the older generation about Hartley hitting Burgess & the ref not giving Hesketh's tr.y Oh for the video ref.
