With respect Roofaldo, you haven't got into the playoffs yet and it is/was by no means a certainty.
The one sure thing IMO is that there will still be a rugby league team at Odsal next season, its just the current situation that needs getting over.
Good luck with it !

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

I think what the RFL should have said about the Halifax bid was it was based on "Massive speculation the size of Nigel Wood" as opposed to just "speculative". But see, now they know what to say to Featherstone next time round so that no-one is under any illusion and doesn't end up confusing SL feck ups to "probable" Championship ones.

Yeah I knew about the points deduction for going into admin. Sorry, I didn't explain myself very well, I meant really an additional punishment for going into liquidation ontop of the points deduction for admin. Wakefield went into admin and rightly received the 4 points deduction, but managed to avoid liquidation IIRC. I don't know if there is any written rule regarding liquidation but I don't think there is one other than the SL clubs have to vote a newco back in. I just think there might be some validity in distinguishing between simple administration (as in Wakefield's case) and liquidation (as seems the most likely in Bradfords) in terms of punishment.

If Bradford go into Liquidation and need the be voted back into SL by the other clubs, they can rely on London voting the right way....

Let's face it - Bradford - starting from zilch after a financial enema and rising like a fat phoenix are still ahead of Championship clubs in terms of SL viability so talk of banishing them to the lower leagues is ludicrous.

However, the RFL cannot just sit and do nothing. They can't just sit back eating digestives, and say "it's not our problem" whilst spitting out crumbs at every angle. What's happening at Bradford, what happened at Wakefield and (to a lesser extent) what happened at Crusaders should be ringing alarm bells. Blaming it on the recession is bullcrap. There is something really wrong when a flagship SL club goes bust. If they went back to Sky and asked for more money the clubs would just over-spend as before. The current salary cap obviously isn't much of a financial safety net for some clubs.

Clubs going to the wall is nothing new but when the RFL trumpet a league as being "super" and lay down strict guidelines for membership the whole thing unravels when members behave like hard up council estate trogs trying to keep their golf club membership - stupidly given to them by a careless committee.

Bradford liquidating and going to C1 with 2017 being the next franchise bid would show how much Bradford fans/sponsors want their club to be a success.

The mistake the RFL made was quietly dropping the percentage of turnover limit from the SC rules. This clause was specifically added to try and stop clubs from overspending on playing staff and getting themselves into the kind of trouble we have seen recently. Now everyone can spend up to the cap limit regardless of how much cash they have in the bank. Barking mad given RL clubs' history of spending themselves into oblivion.

What do each of the clubs turnover?

How many would it effect?

I don't have the exact figures, but in order to spend full cap and break even a club needs a turnover around £3m-£4m. There's only a handful of clubs who achieve that - you need an average crowd figure of ~10k plus decent commercial input. Or a rich backer.

The minimum requirement for an SL licence is just £1m.
