"The Cowboys were desperate to retain O'Donnell, but their three-year $660,000 deal was dwarfed by the Super League club's bumper four-year contract, which is worth an estimated $450,000 a season"

Oz press fiction - Estimated by who? A monkey with a calculator? That would make O'Donnell the highest paid player in the SL era. Would guess he is on half that....still a lot for an inury prone player.

knew o'donnell was on a massive packet

around £5,500 a week

if the injury is a serious one meaning he missed the rest of the season then i think we would be better getting rid...he is a terrific player when he plays though

Luke Who?
At the beginning of this season, l was called an idiot on here.(l think this is my second visit since)
l recomended Sir Ken issue 4 one way tickets to down under (he gave me one Simpson)
These players are on top wages, but very rarely do you get more than a 50% return for your money
(Richards, Lyons Gidley, Luailuai, and maybe a couple more in the last 10 years)
ln my humble opinion Ozzies are like mules thay are lazy and have to be driven hard to get anything out of them
l look forward to the day, hopefully soon when the Giants could be the first team to have no overseas players
But then again l am in my 65th year and am obviously too old to know everything

oh dear. Personally I have enjoyed watching players like Drewy, Paul, De Vere, Gene, Hodgson, Roarts etc etc etc I could name many more. and then list dozens of overseas SL players that it has been a joy to watch.

Harsh imo, before his knee injury last season,LOD's work rate had been nothing short of phenomenal.

abit harsh... the giants are def going the british way, much less reliant on overseas players than other super league teams.
as long as its the cream of the crop that comes over then its fine, and faalogo(world cup winner) and o'donnell (international) i would say are/were when we signed them

I agree they were brearley- unfortunately I would expect they are two of our top three earners- and have not been value for money regardless of the reasons.

Looked like he was hurt at Cas after one particiular tackle on him, poss by Emmitt cos he smacked him everytime he got the ball after that point.
