I'd be gobsmacked if we'd won that many games with a coach who had blatantly lost the dressing room.
How do you know he had lost the dressing room? He clearly got along with most of the players. He was at the golf day with the players this week. I think McManus just panicked.

Sony not so long ago moved production to South Korea and as consequence quality retracted. Wait a minute! There's a parallel with Saints in there somewhere.

I think the players lost faith in Royce as a coach but I'm certain every players likes Royce as a person.
Without a shadow of a doubt Royce did lose the dressing room.
Surely this just puts too much pressure on his side...interesting to see whether this mind game helps or hinders them!

I don't KNOW he lost the dressing room. I made an educated guess that although the players liked him, they obviously weren't too enamoured with his coaching style. As evidenced by this seasons 29% winning record before he left and the 75% since he left. You do understand that it's possible to get along with somebody yet think they are doing a poor job?
With St Pete's record for coming up with inside stories and from what he was saying at the time, and from my own personal beliefs, I firmly believe he had lost the dressing room. I couldn't stand up in a court of law and prove it though.
If McManus did panic, he did it at exactly the right time.
