Great to hear about the club visiting a school in Speke just down the road from me. No question that Liverpool is firmly a football city but there is definitely a lot of people (especially in South Liverpool) who can be won over to rugby league and supporting Widnes. I hope to see more such initiatives soon.

Just offer cheap tickets to people alienated by modern football, fans of AFC Liverpool,FUCM etc.

I've seen lower division football clubs have 2 or 3 'family' days each season where the club promotes an upcoming fixture within a few miles radius of the ground. Posters put up in shops and pubs, and leaflet drops on residential areas. I'm sure if Widnes did this (£10 adult - £5 child) they'd get quite a few more through the gates and a fair few would come back for more.

And being alienated by modern football was one factor which got me back into rugby league.

It's the way to go, because unfortunately 4/5 of the population of widnes aren't arsed about the Vikings and won't be until we start winning

Yes but when we are winning things and all these weak bladder wannabee fans come flocking back, we the chosen few thousand who have ALWAYS stuck it out over many years can come up with lots of amusing matchday songs about the fairweather fans :D

Why not try to extend into Speke, Halewood and Garston? It's a good idea. You could sit them next to Beano, Kendunne Nagasaki or any number of anti-scouse inbreds who imagine they're Man U fans.

You're taking optimism to new levels.

"When we are winning things". lol. That's the most hilarious thing I've ever seen on an internet forum.

When exactly do you expect to start winning things, and what?

Ps, the wooden spoon doesn't count.

Hopefully we have the right Angela Powers accredited toilet facilities for these weak bladdered fans.

Must be a vital part of the next stage of franchising.
