Why are the same teams in the top half of the table and the rest move around the bottom half?? Its because of the ethos of the individual clubs. Players at top teams perform well 95% of the time. This means on and off the field, if they don't comply they are out! Ian Millward has been there and his teams have performed. Ok you can't make a "silk purse out of a sows ear" but in order to get anywhere near Castleford have to start somewhere. Terry did a great job with what he had at his disposal but it is time for a change. It won't happen overnight but I think we at least have some silk thread. I say give him a chance, time for the players to stand up and be counted I think. Players have done this, changed their attitude and turned their life around. Lee Crooks did it when he came to Cas!

Which top flight teams have performed under milward other than saints?

Wigan, castleford and north queensland have all performed very poorly under milward.

So i'm more interested in the question can you make a decent rugby league coach out of milward unless he inherits some of the best players sl has ever seen?

+ 1

It's hardly much of a challenge starting out with a perfect 'blue print' of a team. But I really do take my hat off for a coach that can get players to up their game to effectively punch above their weight. The current players response to Millward is exactly the opposite to that.

Just imagine if Millward was a mechanic and your car started to run even worse after he'd laid his hands on it...he would quickly come under the spotlight, as he has done at Cas. But just imagine if dozens of people had previously told you...what ever you do don't let him touch your car or he'll screw it up. That's where we currently are with Millward!
The saying 'bent as a 9 bob note' has now been dropped.....corrected phrase is 'bent as the RFL!'

You are probably right pyeman regards wigan and queensland but one thing for sure any coach choose who they are does not stand a chance with negative players, negative supporters around him. Some of our players will not change their ways, some will try but some just could not care. Some of our supporters in my opinion hav'nt given him a chance. We are not the only set of supporters that expect instant success but Im afraid it just does not happen at the lower placed clubs. Look at Huddersfield it has taken a while to get in the top 6 status of clubs. I really hope Paul Anderson does well, worked with him and he's a good bloke.

This is an interesting discussion and with more balance and considered thought than other threads of dumbass vitriole.

I see all sides of this becuase ultimately if you, and by that I mean the greater YOU - Players, Colleagues and supporters believe something will be crap, it surely will be.

The main difference between real achievers and also rans is simply confidence, belief and strength of character between them - So the simple act of choosing solidarity, team ethics and deciding to support, commit and back the goal is 75% to achieving it.
Our players need to fix what's between their ears and do the latter, at the moment they are sulking in the former.

Wigan never gave him a chance to be fair...
Getting older is mandatory; growing up is optional.
