IF that is the case and you somehow have inside knoledge of another clubs salary offers, then it is hardly surprising that Turner rejected the offer as an insult. £55K is an average squad players salary and as I said barely 3% of a SC.

Do you know what everybody in SL is earning or has been offered or is it limited to Hull & Saints? :?

Some at Saints, some at Hull, some at Wigan.

Is any of your information about salaries and offers verifiable or is it conjecture?

Well I guess it is verifiable, if you ask them. I don't really care if you believe it or not to be honest, I was just giving you the information as you seemed to be suggesting we're paying about £100K to Jordan Turner.

Turner wanted to be closer to home and Hull did make a bigger offer than the one he took at Saints. For a year less too.

It know what shenton was on a year and I'd guess we are saving 50k per year on Turner.

I also know what lee Gaskell and Jamie foster ate getting and believe me, they are very well paid to be playing u20s rugby.

I can't think why you think he was on around £30K p.a. after presumably getting an increase on what Salford were paying him. He is not an 18 year old

I didn't say he was on £30k a year, I've no idea what he's currently on. But Hull saying they made a substantial offer doesn't necessarily mean that would've put him in the top bracket earners, but substantial to his current contract.

At the end of the day he's not an international player, there's no way he'll be on the highest bracket that Shenton was on at Saints.

Might be worth mentioning that Turner has made nearly 200 tackles less than Shenton and, for a supposed striker centre, has scored less tries this season than Willie Manu. Take out that one game against Rovers where he scored a hat trick, when they were struggling, and he has scored three tries in fourteen games.

It is a fair point that Turner makes a lot less tackles than Shenton, but that may be because Shenton is targeted as a specific weak link in Saints defensive armour. Statistically they both complete around 91% which is pretty poor.
I suspect we will see Turner targeted next year on the right at Saints and be forced to do more defensive work.

I personally would never describe Turner as a strike centre. Such guys are people who score 20 trys+ a season.
For me Turner is a solid player who will provide "more bang for the buck", particularly going forward.

In a salary capped world Shenton comes into the category of under performing Luxury player. We cant afford to keep such players on our books. The money is better spent going to promising youngsters eg Josh Jones, or other star players who are coming up with the goods on a week by week basis.

I'm no fan of Turner at all, but to be fair to him he may well be capable of that if he played enough games. I think his average over his entire time with us is currently running at around a try every 2 games, with last year being 12 from 20 games. So he does have the potential to be a late teens+ tryscorer, if he could ever improve the defensive side of his game enough to keep his place in the side.
