So is it basils fault that half the team dont even attempt to tackle around the legs and go for the flapping arms up top approach which just gets shrugged off from the opposition. Come on get real half the players cant be bothered and just want the season to end. If I was basil I would drop the dead wood and put in some under 20's who would try their best. I dont mind getting beat if the team give 100% but at present that is not the case so give someone else a chance basil.
I think next season will be a different story and with the signings weve made if we dont make the top 8 I would be suprised.

Most cas fans want this season to end.

Who's job is it to motivate the players?

You really think a 34 year old second rower who probably isnt in the top 20 back rowers in the competition, an injury prone centre (who when he plays is good but not in the top 10 centres in the competition), a half back that has played hardly any sl and has just been let go by a sl side and shenton (who is a good signing) are going to make us go from the worst season we have had in sl to a top 8 team??

Not to mention the fact we will lose youngquest, arundel, jones, hudson, mcgoldrick, jackson, ferres and possibley, snitch, orr, chase and clark, and will have to replace these players with a smaller budget due fans turning away in droves while also having to pay over the odds because no one wants to play for us with milward in charge.

Is that really the recipe for sucess? get your players not wanting to play for you, scrap all tactics, have a smaller squad and budget, put players off signing for you, drive fans away and sign injury prone/unproven/close to retirement players? If it we will be sucessful next year no doubt.
when the score got to 50 we shouted for more, up popped brad davis went over for four.....

......and its no nay never no nay never no more will we face religation......

big barrie mac.' the cas forads av been bob on'

Last night, despite being poor and not deserving the win, we should have won.

The players have had an easy ride for the past 5/6 years. Training barely 3 hours per day ,4days per week. Getting p1553d whenever they want and basically been allowed to act like a pub side. A new coach has come in and is trying to put things right , and of course these players can't handle this culture shock. It's a bit like the wife letting the dog kip on the sofa all week and then I come home and kick it off at the weekend ...........it bites me !!!!

Maybe it's time to put a few down !!!

You have a fair point, When Matterson announced he was leaving i seem to remember one of the senior players said to the media that the players were hoping Andy Hay got the job...in other words an easier life for them on the training pitch.

I will give Basil some credit in trying to put in a more professional structure in place in regards to training and diet.

if i have one problem with Millward he maybe should have been a little more diplomatic and less bullish...he seems to forget he isn't a pundit now.

However the swift move of mcgoldrick out of the door will be food for thought for the players....in other words a kick up the arris!.

Hope you're right. I do think the problem this season is more down to the players than to Millward and I stand by what I've said that the players should be reminded by the board Millward is the coach until at least the end of 2014 and if they don't like it then they know where the door is. I for one want to see what happens when his methods come to fruition and wouldn't mind seeing the back of anybody that's getting in the way of that.
Getting older is mandatory; growing up is optional.
