So the RFU is proving just as incompetent at Governing as the RFL in their handling of Welsh clubs. No need to go over the Crusaders fiasco as we all know about it. Now the RFU are buggering about with London Welsh. Are they promoted or not? Who knows (and tbh who cares)? Just reassuring to know that once again the RFU follows in the footsteps of the RFL in incompetency.

They have been promoted, it helped that the owner of London Welsh is a leading lawyer! The appeal panel concluded that the rules governing primacy of tenure “infringed UK and EU competition law”

Any chance of a Championship club arguing the franchise system does the same?

From the fairly scanty reports available on t'interweb, it seems that the key point was that the promoted club had to fulfil conditions that the existing Premiership members didn't fulfil.

Bit of a warning shot across the bows for Rugby League ....... :THINK:
