Not specifically on those two, but Waney says in an interview that he expects a lot coming back for the Wakey game.

At the press conf Wane said that Goulding had "turned his ankle".
I'd expect that to be ok with 9/10 days to the Wakey game.
What bothers me about Goulding is the strapping he has on his thigh. It's heavy strapping and he has been wearing it for a number of weeks.
Is this what's kept him out of the England set up?
Perhaps he can only do one game a week if he has a problem which it does look like.

If Goulding is struggling, week to week, then I suspect that he will be rested following the Leeds game and replaced by Thornley.

I'd like to see Gelling given a go in the centre if Goulding isnt 100%. Gelling is a good player, but he is the worst winger I have ever seen. He doesnt have any attributes to his game that make him a good winger. I'd love to see him given a go in his natural position because there is something there.

V Wakefield i'd be tempted to try:

Murphy
Charnley
Gelling
Carmont
King
Finch
Sam
Mossop
Logan - assuming MM will be banned.
Lauaki
Farrell
Hock
O'Loughlin

Hughes
Lloyd
Crosby

I agree. I think that he has real potential as a Centre, which is presumably why we signed him in the first place. Perhaps he has been blooded earlier than Waney would have liked because of the injury to Pat Richards. And I just wish that some people would get off his back and stop putting the lad under pressure.

I honestly don't think Gelling is ready to play centre at SL level. I know people are saying it's his natural position but centre is a much more complicated position to play than wing. Whilst watching him on the wing I've never thought, I reckon he'd be an excellent centre, we've seen a couple of decent offloads but he's constantly in the wrong position when attacking. If Goulding doesn't make Wakey I'd be tempted to give Thornley a run out.

But he's never played winger has he? I thought he was a second row/centre when we signed him, so he's been playing out of position.

I'd just like to give him a run further infield purely for that reason. He just doesn't look like a winger at all to me, give him a shot in his more natural position.

I know he wasn't signed as a winger but I think he's been used there to learn the game a bit better and get up to speed with SL. What I'm saying is that centre is a much more demanding position. Charnley gets twitchy on his wing when he's not confident in his centre (see Joel last year). He'd do fine at SR I think, it's just that is our position with the most strength in depth and him playing on thw wing has also been needs must with Pat out so long.

If he hasn't got the postional sense, handling or finishing skills to be a winger then I don't think he'll make it as a centre, my opinion of course.

Gelling looks as though he would do better on the right wing as he carries the ball in his right hand which makes it more difficult to hand off his opponent in his present left wing position.
However that would mean Charnley moving to the left which is probably unfair, and I can't remember if he ever played left wing at academy level. (I'll check Bilkos site)
