Well well , it seems my Sandy haired friend Mr George Stokes will be in charge   i know he upset a few on this forum the last game he reffed for us , even upset a couple who didnt even attend the game    ,lets not get into Karl Harrisons sour grapes syndrome , a Refs job is hard enough , and i personally think Mr Stokes is one of our better referees , Cmon Leythers we dont need to bag the Ref for a reason for not winning .

I think Thomasson is the best ref we get but then Georgey boy comes in second.

Some of them are just not up to it (altough Childs got promoted so what do I know!!!).

Think he reffed last seasons game at Mount Pleasant if I recall it was a Thursday night and due to traffic problems the game kicked off at 8-15pm.

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?

Best ref in the championship in my opinion.
Careful you don't spend too long down there, you'll end up talking funny, eating straw, drinking cider and marrying family members. "jonny the leyther 2011"

He and Ian Smith (Video ref) were involved in a real 'cock up' when Sheffield scored their first try at Leigh a couple of weeks ago in the TV game. Stokes awarded Sheffield a penalty on our line, they took a very quick tap and Stokes went 'upstairs' for a decision on the grounding. Stokes assured Smith that he was happy with the quick penalty take. Why then would Stokes say 'woh woh woh' to the Sheffield player and actually tried to pull him back. If the Sheffield player had been a horse he would have stopped immediately. Smith's explanation was puzzling, he admitted he couldnt tell whether it was a try or not. Whatever - Sheffield were hammered in the end. Mr.Stokes prefers to be described as 'strawberry blonde' rather than a redhead by the way.
