I just wonder why they have avoided the biggest gaming platform in the world (Wii).

because most typical console games just don't do well on the wii, if it wasn't for wii fit the platform would have disappeared a lot earlier than it has done

The Wii has been dying in terms of sales numbers for a couple of years now, but the fact remains that the 360 would have to have several more years of outselling it to make up the gap in total units sold. I don't think we'll ever see one console dominate sales in that way again.

I agree, because most people who own a Wii have either grown out of it, or realised that the games were fairly one dimensional.
I am paying Johnny Whiteley 0.000001p per decade to use his image, he's fine with it.

Not that so much. The Wii grew sales by opening up gaming to a new demographic of casual gamers. That demographic has now moved on to the likes of smartphones and tablets. They don't need a console to play the kinds of games they want anymore. The market created by the Wii has basically left console builders behind.

I think more just got bored of the same old thing being rehashed on the Wii, the majority of games are pretty much the same thing. You also take into account the restrictions with a Wii compared to something like a Kinect where there is no need for the cumbersome controllers any more.

Smartphones/Tablets may have taken a small percentage of users away from the Wii, but I suspect a big chunk of them decided to get an Xbox instead as they get a wider selection of games and still have the "Wii-Type" gaming with the kinect.

also think a lot of your typical nintendo fans have reverted to the DS, or their n64 emulators

The industry analysts I've read disagree. Also the sales figures for the three different consoles don't add up.
