I really think the RFL are missing a trick with this. I went a couple of years ago there was a decent crowd, but it was lost in the vast expanse of Headingley. It was a good night's entertainment, but needed developing and filling out a bit.

Tuesday evenings are OK for the qualifying rounds, but the finals should be on a weekend afternoon or bank holiday. It needs to be cheap an cheerful. It should be billed as a family festival gala and have lots of events directed at the kids, maybe youth/schools teams competing too. Someone with some marketing nous could make this a winner.

I definitely think a smaller ground may be the way forward, and yes the final would be better played on a weekend if poss.

I was thinking about a nice compact little ground with plenty of cover.

BV perhaps?

That'd be ok for the next couple of years, but they should be looking for somewhere more modern after that.

Lee Briers has suggested that the finals should be held at magic weekend between the main games
