I remember that & because of that what little interest I may have had towards Rovers went. I believe another club also voted against Hull but I cannot recall which it was.

And your owner tried to pull a similar scheme when he was behind the attempted 'Irish buyout'. Strangely enough that fact is often forgotten. Neither attempt painted the clubs in a good light. So technically you tried it first.
So none of those who were throwing mud earlier want to touch this then? Strange that!

David Lloyd?
I think we'd all like to forget about that.
True but I just get annoyed when FC fans bring up the issue of us blocking the drop so we could close you down but the seem to have selective memories that you (FC) tried it first with the irish lot.

Wasn't that to merge?
We were in dire straights with no money and in administration, Wilby tried to get us on the cheap (Almost for nothing) but was told no he then went on and got FC, shortly after the Irish consortium(sp) appeared. The Irish lot wouldnt give any assurances over playing at craven park, keeping the name or anything else. You call it a merger if you want but it kinda speaks for itself and the administrator thankfully saw right through it.
Like I have said both teams have played that game and neither came out of it with any credit.
It was Hull KRs very own chairman Barry Lilley who was the main instigator at the meeting that denied Hull FC the chance of being relegated. He hoped that rallying the other club he would would force FC out of business and many KR fans at the time where cock a hoop over the plan.
Thanks Mr Lilley
Where the two Irishmen part of the plan to close you down or part of a merger plan, a plan your Mr Lilley proposed in 1995. Wilby wanted KR and FC to merge to get a promise of SL out of the RFL, FC won promotion and he no longer wanted KR anymore and that is the fact presented in the programme "Trouble at the top " Rovers Return. Putting that into a well known clip site will get you the whole story in three glorious episodes, laugh so much my sides hurt
Thanks again Barry
I would contribute a few pounds to a statue raised in his honour and few more £££s for the flock of specially prune fed pigeons that would be needed to sit on it ..................
Quote from R.B.A. I think this post sums you up as a character. Flawed and thick.

I suggest you watch it again (I know I have/do). The Irish lot appeard after Wilby but well before you got promoted. If he didnt intend to on closing us down then why did he REFUSE to agree to the continued existance of Hull Kingston Rovers and if he had got us without those assurances what would have happened then? We BOTH know the answer to that one don't we. The joint team would have played from the boulevard, would have played in the colour of Hull sharks and would be West hull based. So you pretend all you want that Wilby wouldn't have shut us down in the 'merger' but anyone looking at it with an open mind can see it plain as day.
