Premiersports (Sky channel 433) are showing the 9s tournament finals live tonight. Salford didn't make the finals, but we have some interest in the programme with Jodie Broughton defending his fastest man in SL title at the event as well.

Jodie came 4th. Omari Caro from London came 1st. Jamahl Chisolm of Leeds came 2nd, someone from Batley came 3rd and Ben Massey from Salfords U18s came 5th. There were 17 runners overall. Thierry Alibert came last

For anyone without Premier sports the race has just been run and Jodie came erm nowhere !!!

... however the young kid from Salford "Ben Massey" had a blinder and came third leaving JB in his slip stream

1st Omari Caro London Broncos
2nd Jamel Chisholm Leeds Rhinos
3rd Ben Massey Salford

Ben Massey came 5th just behind Jodie. The guy who came 3rd was from Batley. The commentators on Premier Sports got it wrong.

Whilst the TV angle was quite bad with them spread accross a large part of the pitch, the slo mo clearly showed Massey finishing before Jodie who was next to him, hence the commentators saying who's third yes it's ben massey of Salford, however you couldn't see them all so maybe the bloke from Batley finished ahead of them both.

We shall have to await official confirmation.

Going off JB's tweet to Luke Patten and Sean Long, Massey did come 3rd. Fair play to the lad. Looks like we could have some serious pace in a few years if we keep hold of him.

Thats how I saw it. Massey showed good pace and looked like 5th position to me.

Really enjoyed the nines comp last night on tv. Like most things rugby league it appears to be given as little publicity as possible. The concept is good with fast, skillful, agile players. I liked the 'powerplay' idea. The results were not predictable and the game allowed individual talent to shine. It could be an avenue for young players to showcase their talent.

The RFL should look at ways of promoting this idea as our midweek version of crickets 20/20 and darts premier league.
