We'll be alright. Going in a bit of a different direction probably, running a tighter ship hopefully.
How many of those players do we think have been offering good value?
Galea, now he's back - but 34 next year. Taylor - but I'd be astonished if he wasn't here next year. McDonnell - recently, but in part because he apparently came over on less than generous terms to secure a better deal long term. Lovegrove - yes, in fairness.
Clinton - not really, though he's coming up the rails to pip O'Meley in the best expensive Australian prop signed by a Hull club for 2010 stakes. Webster - very decent player, served us well, but I'm content with the prospect of Sean Gleeson in this market and economic climate. Watts - might do it for Hull, fresh start and that but he'd gone stale for us. Wheeldon - never let us down, but hardly massively in demand.
I know we've had some decent form the last couple of months, and it's not unnatural that we've swung from 'not good enough, get rid' to Shannon McDonnell leaving being the first harbinger of the end of Rovers after 129 years. But I'm sure the club will make sensible choices. If there's a panic this year, and we don't join it then medium term we can benefit from that. Equally we could miss the boat, it's just a case of judging it. Like Poker... maybe.
