Rumours rife they have been told to prepare for Superleague next year. Who's for the chop then? Bradford or ourselves!
He was shot in both arms , and both legs. He later died because of his injuries. Tommy 25th March 2007.
Salford City Reds are the National League Champions again and nobody will ever win a Grand Final more dramatically than this. Division One champions, Grand Final winners, winners of the Northern Rail Cup; everything their hearts desired. Down and out? Not a bit of it, they are never out. Memories are made of this forever and a day, Salford fans will ask "where did you watch the 2008 Grand Final? Where did you see John Wilshere save the day with the last kick of the ball?"
read a few things today. 1 is that bradford are telling fans there is another club in dire straits finance wise, but not admitting it (could be us?)
John wilk apparently said on radio that reports we pay 375k per year on stadium are rubbish and we pay 1 pound peppercorn rent per year. He quoted saying "375k is rubbish, I don't know who has made that figure up. We pay 1 pound peppercorn rent and a service charge to council"
SURELY we pay more than a pound else wouldnt we be able to spend more on squad? plus would sale really move in and pay more? Plus didnt we recently halve the rent to help our costs? Something fishy going on im sure at the moment
Bradford may go bump but they'll not get kicked out that's for sure. Many other teams would but by buying the stadium the RFL tipped it's hand on how they would react.
Doubt it would be us either, we from what I see can't be close to going bust if we paid of a tax bill only a couple or so months ago. Granted I think moneys very tight but I can't see it being that bad that we are close to going under. For one can't see either the council, Peel or the stadium company sitting back and watching it happen even with Sale now on board.

the peppercorn rent is for the land, the rent/service charge to the council is something else and it is a lot less than people keep going on about, Sale are paying a lot more than us and it did cut what we were paying.

Another MR post based on wild speculation with little recourse to reality. I'm no city slicker but I'm fairly sure companies on a reasonably sound financial footing don't wait until winding up petitions have been issued to pay their tax bill.

If we're paying peppercorn rent like Wilky has been suggesting why is he also saying we need 8,000 per game plus 500 execs?
His statement goes against the grain of everything we've heard about the statement and is confusing to say the least.

Another Walshovski reply based on dislike (do try to be subjective) but I digress.
Many companies play a game of chicken with their taxes by waiting till the very last minute to pay, I'm willing to bet it's not the first time it has happened at the club and unless the mysterious sugar daddy appears I doubt it will be the last and most certainly we wont be the only RL team to use this tactic.

There has been a 'tweet' today about Halifax being top of the Championship - in semi-final of the NRC - and had made a 20k profit. If Widnes were under-prepared for Super League I would think the same applies to 'Fax. But this is rugby league...
It was on Gareth Walker's twitter.( twitter.com/garethwalker13 )

There is waiting for the reminder letter to come in before paying and then there is waiting until hours before your company is liquidated to pay. The latter would suggest we are far from being in rude financial health.
I think you meant 'do try to be objective' when posting, but feel free to continue being subjective if you want.
JW: makes life hard being a Salford fan, for god sake Salford show some balls, you encourage the rummer mill & create uncertainty! Come on Salford kill the rummer's for once, it not fair on loyal fans who continually defend the clubs good name, we deserve better?
