Best team won well done Fev.

It wasn't our best performance but sometimes you only play as good as they let you, they defended well and put Riddy under loads of pressure which resulted in a poor kicking game, but we showed spirit to hang in, and if Henderson had been awake we may have pinched it.

Fev are undoubtedly a good side and they tackled hard and pressured our kickers well, however Leigh were well below par on Friday. It is one of those things and I know they were doing their best and despite an inept performance, could easily have snatched a draw or a win towards the end of the match. We seemed to come alive after the Pownall incident. We tackled hard and toiled well, but that was not the same Leigh we have been watching for weeks. As I have said, Fev did well and credit must go to them, but a lot of Leigh's errors were unforced and I honestly do not think we will see them look as flat and so poor in the kicking department again this season. Fev offered us a lot of ball, as their cohesion was not quite there either, but we were too off the boil to accept their gifts. Fev kicked far better than us and that was one of the main differences. Whilst being a tough and gritty game and the closeness of the score made it exciting, there was some extremely poor play from both sides with the ball in hand. I expect the semi to be a better quality game. If we had performed at the level we did against Batley, Sheffield etc on Friday, IMO we would definitely have got the win. However, we did not and of course we cannot always expect to play well. C'est la vie and I cannot wait for the next match at Batley. I love the effort this team puts in. Long may it continue.

Fev had runners and better distribution from the ruck, they dominated the ptb all night, illegally as always but they generally got away with it.

Ya takes ya chances with the ref. Holding down is only illegal when the ref says it is and is part of the game.
Get it right and it's an effective tool in slowing the opposition down allowing the defensive line to set. When it goes on too long the ref takes issue - you got the penalty. C'est la vie. Fev were just better at working the margins with the ref than Leigh were on friday!

Tell you what tho, McNally's feigning assualt, interference etc is taken to another level like I've not seen in this league. At one point he was falling to the floor rolling his head around like an Italian footy player!!! Similarly trying to play the ref, but like I said, just not as good.

So Fev are the perfect article. The best rugby playing team, and the best spoiling team.

Perfect article?? Dunno about that Derek. Just better than Leigh in both those departments on friday night.
I also subscribe to the view that Friday's result will have no bearing whatsoever on other games between our clubs this season.

I hope not, but Featherstone were in ominous form on Friday, and set down a marker. Having said that, I thought Leigh did well to stick with them. The trick now, for Leigh, is to not only stick with them, but put them under more pressure. Personally, I think that might be a big ask, coming just four days after what's sure to be another tough one, at Batley, next weekend.

As a Leyther, you’re one of us the moment you come here to wear the shirt. I don't care where you were born, what colour you are, what religion you are, what language you speak. You're one of us, part of our culture, writing our history as you create your own, and making us stronger for it....
