This is what time the Hull KR Catalans game finished! this is a record breaking time to finish a game by 5 minutes the previous record was 9.59PM
1. There was a long injury.
2. There were numerous video referee decisions
3. Time outs for quickley formed scrums
4. Was it a drop out or a 20 metre restart?
5. Time outs for who were culprits in minor handbags at 10 paces.

The only solution if sky want to finish the program by 10PM they must start the game no later than 7.45PM :)

Getting more and more ridiculous. The video refs taking 10 hours to check every angle on a decision that can be confirmed in 10 seconds, doesn't help.

Why is this an issue? Does Steve Menzies still have to be in bed by 10?

I know what you mean about the video refs though, seem to be taking forever, especially when it's Mr Ganson

Sat in stadiums awaiting video ref calls, often with poor view of big screen is annoying. In comparison an NRL game on now has done 80 plus ten mins extra time within two hours.

If you record the match it'll knock off at 10 and you'll miss the end.

I always record an extra 30 minutes after live sports programs, so I got the end ok.

I was utterly staggered at how long it took to decide on most of those video ref decisions. Most of them were blindingly obvious after the 1st showing, but we went over and over them, all of them confirming the first viewing.

The only dubious one was the quickest to decide (did he ground it?). 2 camera angles seemed to show clearly that he lost the ball, but one very blurry view seemed to show that he "may" still have been in contact, so we decide he touched down cleanly? I'm not convinced.

So that's at least 3 VR decisions that Ian Smith has made where the vast majority of people would have made the other decision. Hoffman last year against Catalans ( perhaps more of a 50/50), the Catalans "penalty try" this year and now this Catalans clinching try against HKR.

I also noted how often Smith replayed the HKR 2nd try when it was obvious from the first playing it was a try. As if he were trying to find a reason to disallow it.

I would be the last to suggest a pattern is emerging, but I wonder if he spends lots of holidays in the south of France and gets invited to some nice restaurants....

On the league 1 matches shown on Premier Sports the VR are wired up and they are talking about what they are looking for. On Thursday I thought it was Smith and he seemed quicker. With the difference being that when they are on Sky you have tweedle dee and tweedle dumb and dumberer and even more dumberer giving their two pence worth and although they say the VR can not hear them I think Eddie may be telling porkies on that one! May be if during SL matches the VR was able to talk through his thought process it may seem more bearable.

Don't forget two other dubious decisions by Smith. Jack Hughes 'try' at Leeds and the Hull K R try at Wigan where the player grounded short and then rolled over...a definite double movement. So those two, along with last years Hoffman no try at Catalan and this years penalty try makes four in all. And all against Wigan. Hope we never get him again.
