Wigan won't advertise that their after any player.

Why would they?

They'll sort summat.

Agreed, and they wont do it publicly and they certainly wont do it for the sort of fees being mentioned for Chase.

This should be good.

Sam Tomkins for starters. Shaun Edwards filled the Full Back role for Wigan before becoming a truly great Half Back for Wigan and GB and there's no reason as to why Tomkins couldnt do that. Rangi Chase is overrated and would a complete waste of money for Wigan to outlay. Also thought you where after Lee Gaskell from St Helens???

I like the look of the lad Russell at fullback, could move Tomkins into the halves to accomodate this. I know Tomkins is devastating joining the line of your lot but I think he could evolve into a Benji Marshall type player. Whatever happens, we need to appreciate Sam Tomkins whilst he's here, it won't be long before RU or NRL comes calling and only then will we realise what a pleasure it as to have him play in our league. A bit like Ronaldo when he was at United, people appreciate him more now he's gone. Tomkins should be England captain for me.

Dropped by Cas for their game today.

Denis Betts was an outstanding player (I don't get how anyone could think otherwise unless they only saw him later in his career when he had slowed down a bit) - similar to Joel Tomkins but better, fast and strong and hard.

Betts was World class as a second rower. He had speed and strength to burn. It's no coincidence that he was around when we won the 8. He won the Lance Todd and Man of steel for Gods sake ! I'm hard pushed to name an Ozzie that would have been better.

Similar to Hoffman but better. All round complete SR forward. Anyone who says otherwise couldn't have possibly seen him play.

Denis Betts was possibly the most complete second rower I have ever seen! Never hit the heights as much in his second stint but was still probably the best SR in super league when he came back frrom Auckland

Disciplinary reasons apparently.

Possibly the reason Wigan aren't interested as we have a club that seems ultra disciplined at the moment.

Rumour is he was out on the lash Friday, 2 days before a game, so dropped. Not smart from Rangi.

Can't say I'm surprised to hear that. Yet another reason he shouldn't be a part of our team.

Seems it's our fault on the Cas board:

If Chase was out on Friday he should rightly be dropped.

I think all this is something that we see a lot in Football circles and sadly it is starting in R.L now, if i am wrong i will apologise but has it gone something like this?.....

Wigan leak to the press that they are interested in Chase (but not at the price Cas are likely to command for him)as they are losing both starting half backs next season.

Press ask the question of Wigan's interest to Chase who is flattered and interested (no surprise given the state of the club at present).

Wigan then say they are no longer interested in Chase, who probably upset at losing out playing for a competitive team goes out 2 days before a match bringing him into conflict with the club, in an attempt to force the clubs hand.

What could happen?....Cas are stook with an unhappy player who doesn't put the effort in and is distruptive behind the scenes.

Wigan then come in again and we accept a reduced ammount to get rid of the bad influence.

I hope i am wrong.

Well they're right. It has to be an essential part of Wigan's policy to mess things up at Castleford. Without that, there's no guarantee we'd win anything. It's worth spending a lot of time developing such a ploy.

the plan is credible

except the part where we leaked our interest to the press.

Rangi got sniff of what had been said on here and jumped at the chance
What's the rumpus, Tom?
