Whilst I know you're joking, you have a point. I'm yet to break 50 minutes for my public transport journey time from Walkden. It only took me an hour from Hollingworth Lake to the Willows!

50 minutes? My heart bleeds for you. No, really, it does.

I think point isn't necessarily based simply on the time taken, but that it takes 50 minutes to do what is less than 4 miles as the crow flies.

I think what Gav is getting at is how close he is to the ground compared to the time it physically takes.

It wouldn't surprise me if it worked out faster for you to get from Preston to the ground if distance against time was worked out.

You could always go and watch your closest team instaed of Salford you whingeing ginger git

That's fair enough, but if we're going to take my large slice of sarcasm as the start of a serious discussion, surely that's more of an issue for GMPTE or the railway companies rather than something that Salford or the Stadium Company should be looking to solve? Otherwise you'd expect them to end up having to put direct buses on from most of Salford. Where does it stop?

And my closest professional (or even semi-pro) team would be, to the best of my knowledge, Wigan. F**k that.

As Iain and Fungus point out on my behalf, a journey of 50 minutes when in such close proximity is excessive to say the least. And, as I've said, I'd be happy to pay for a more direct service, especially if it undercut the exorbitant First Bus daysaver fare. (Dear whomever controls the shuttle bus; potential profits are perhaps to be made in Walkden).

Depends how serious we are about pulling crowds in. According to AA route planner, Walkden centre is an 8 minute drive from the new stadium, yet it currently takes a minimum of 50 mins (one way) on public transport. Think this is quite a unique situation. A direct bus from LH/Walkden (if advertised) getting on the motorway at Worsley Roundabout could attract quite a few new fans over time.

Would also be worth considering Swinton/Clifton, and maybe having the bus that currently starts at The Willows setting off from The Height instead and calling at The Willows on route.

I know it's obvious but can't the Walkden massive meet up at the new Wetherspoons and grab cabs?
I got a cab from work in Wardley to the last home game and it cost me 7 quid, get a minibus sorted and you'd be looking at maybe a £1:50 each.

I was just about to suggest the same thing.
I live in Walkden now so would be up for it.
Although would prefer to meet in the Vulcan.....

Dear Boy I'm much to posh like to live in Wogdin ;-)

I was just finishing at 7 on the Friday of the Les Cats game so grabbed a cab, you'd maybe need to start a separate thread on here, I went from Wethers to Atherton a few weeks ago and think it was 10/10 who sent a 9 seater mini bus so that would be a start and I bet they'd do you a return rate for pick up at say 23:00 when they kick out of the new tend sorry fanzone ;-)

The 67 is neither discounted or drops off outside the stadium .I`m after the same cut price service from the club that supporters from the other side of Salford can take advantage of.
Whispers from The Offing is a collection of songs by various artists paying homage to four decades of Kevin Coyne's music.
