Unbelievable.

I thought this might have appeared on here before now as it's all over Twitter and in just about every paper. How can Cameron sit there with a straight face and condemn Carr's tax avoidance whilst Vodafone, Amazon, Topshop et all are given carte blanche by his government (and previous ones) to offshore their profits in a bid to avoid UK tax?

If that slimy, greasy, pan-faced tosser and his cronies are elected for a second term, I'm fooking emigrating.

He's upset that Carr is rocking the boat.
Jimmy has seen the error of his ways now ... I don't know that Cameron has.

He's even worse than Blair in the way that he casually jumps aboard any passing bandwagon, hoping that we don't notice that his and Osborne's agenda doesn't actually include doing anything about that issue because they are too busy ensuring that rich people get richer ... and sod anyone else.

They obviously think that we have short memories (Ashcroft anyone?) and are totally thick.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to know how to become a UK non-resident for tax purposes, or would like know how to postpone tax, these are just a couple of the topics planned for the Practical Tax Planning Conference 2012.
Guest speaker is Dave Hartnett ... yes, him, the HMRC guy who (possibly illegally) let Vodafone and Goldman Sachs off the hook to the tune of billions of pounds.
Still, it's not as if we needed that money is it?

It shows just how totally out of touch and basically how fooking thick Cameron is. By naming and shaming Jimmy Carr, he's basically declared open season on anyone who may use "tax efficient vehicles", even HMRC are bound by confidentiality. There will now be many in and around government who are waiting for their names and tax affairs to be broadcast to all & sundry and most will not welcome what they read.

The thing that suprises me most in all of this is just how Carr manages to blag £3 millions+ per year

There are many people easily pleased and willing to spend their hard earned on this unfunny character IMHO.
This year I want to see Us going forward in the last 5 minutes even if we are 40 points up.

I like Danny Baker's take on it:

Danny Baker ‏@prodnose

Wonder how many @jimmycarr tweeters are in Topshop using a Vodaphone bought via Amazon to express their 'tax-avoider' outrage.

Yes, and how unfunny he is.
I don't blame Carr or anyone for that matter offered these schemes.
The fact is that Cameron should do something about what is clearly bordering on tax evasion, but legal.
He'd stop his own tap and that of his mates though.
Meanwhile thank goodness for PAYE or we really would be shafted.
Sorry ... all of us on PAYE are shafted.

I appreciate as a comedian, people will expect me to ‘make light’ of this situation, but I’m not going to in this statement as this is obviously a serious matter.

I met with a financial advisor and he said to me “Do you want to pay less tax? It’s totally legal.” I said “Yes.”

I now realise I’ve made a terrible error of judgement.

Although I’ve been advised the K2 Tax scheme is entirely legal, and has been fully disclosed to HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs), I’m no longer involved in it and will in future conduct my financial affairs much more responsibly.

Apologies to everyone. Jimmy Carr
